Indicitive Grade 8 (Actual salary £23,400-£25,582)

(as this is a new post and subject to job evaluation- Grade could go up or down)

Full Time 37 hours -Term time + 5 days

Based at The Springfield Centre, Pontefract Rd, Crofton, Wakefield WF4 1LL,



The Springfield Centre was graded as ‘Good’ at the last Ofsted inspection in November 2018. The Executive Head Teacher has a strong commitment to continued improvement and working towards excellent provisions for students across the Wakefield District. The appointment of key practitioners is an important element in the continued development of the Key Stage 4 PRUs to achieve this aim.


Following the creation of a recently new Hair and Beauty salon and a new bespoke vocational facility opening in September 2019, the Management Committee and Executive Head Teacher are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, qualified and dynamic tutors to convert these modern facilities into exciting, engaging and inviting learning areas for our young people.


Candidates will provide vocational courses and world of work experiences which will enhance the young people’s chances of Post 16 education, apprenticeships and employment.  


The candidate will be an excellent workshop practitioner who can evidence successful outcomes for students across a range of ages including City and Guilds (or equivalent), Employability and practical skill for life. Candidates must have experience of working with vulnerable, challenging students and raising their aspirations and outcomes.


The successful candidate will need a proven ability of working independently, have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage behaviour successfully.


You will also enjoy team work and have experience of working collaboratively with a range of staff and other professionals. Candidates will also be expected to deliver enrichment activities as part of the reward system.


Successful applicants may be required to work across any of the associated sites subject to operational needs.
